5 boys have been arrested on suspicion of wilful damage after a school blazer was found ripped to shreds.
However, they have been hailed as heroes by their class mates. Most of the pupils at St. Hogwort's Fashion College in Gateshead really hate the newly-designed school blazer which they are required to wear all the time.
The boys, aged 11 to 15, were caught trying to set fire to the shredded bits of blazer. "Being lined with asbestos, this new blazer would never burn," said the headmaster. "That's why we never called the fire brigade."
If found guilty of wilful damage to a school blazer, the boys could be expelled - or, even worse, sentenced to lengthy periods of detention in the school hall, where school blazers are compulsory.
