The Police have discovered a clever way in which thieves can try and fool the authorities.
They call it 'Robbing from Dead Bodies'.
Two men, known to associate with people of a questionable reputation, were apprehended for the suspected crime.
They had received funds via 'a dead body' which had been directed to the Government but, through a mechanism labelled gross deception, they had taken the money themselves and let the Government 'go hang' (in the words of a leader of a similar gang).
However, a sharp undercover operation had revealed the nefarious ways of the culprits -known only as Cameroon and Clegleg - and they had been held to account.
'Fair cop, guv' exclaimed Cameroon who described their 'mistake' in taking the Government's money as being 'nothing to do with him'.
The Judge in the trial had none of this. However there was outrage as he only gave the two thieves suspended sentences.
Unfortunately the lax laws allow criminals to escape prison in our society. Moves to tighten up the system are well in hand but have been held up by austerity measures.
