England manager Fabio Capello has laid the blame for Joe Hart's 2 monumental Wembley blunders firmly at the feet of the English Premier League.
The 24 year old Manchester City man, who is regarded by many as the best keeper the national side has had since Peter Shilton, let 2 weak free kicks from Tranquillo Barnetta slip past him, enabling Switzerland to take a shock 2-0 lead.
Only a Frank Lampard penalty and a second half shot from substitute Ashley Young saved England's blushes.
Fabio Capello, who blamed the country's disastrous World Cup 2010 campaign on tiredness caused by the busy domestic schedule, put the bad result this time on the poor quality of goalkeeping in the Premiership :
"Being exposed to, and having to mix with the likes of Heurelho Gomes of Spurs, Robert Green of West Ham, Wigan's Ali Al Habsi and all 3 of Arsenal's goalies has definitely had an adverse effect on Joe Hart's form.
He is not the player he was when he first broke into Man City's first team".
Capello urged Man City's manager Roberto Mancini to sell Hart to a Serie A or La Liga side sooner rather than later or risk him being dragged down to his goalkeeping colleagues' level for ever.
"With the dearth of talent I already have at my disposal in the outfield positions, the last thing I need is a Calamity Joe figure between the sticks".
