The sense of relief at the Emirates was tangible when Robin van Persie scored from the spot on the stroke of full time after eight added minutes.
But that relief was short-lived as Liverpool forced a free kick on the edge of the Arsenal area seconds later and in the ensuing action won a penalty of their own which Dirk Kuyt promptly converted.

"Mugs here said to me, 'Why don't you go to Wembley and see Bolton and Stoke in the FA Cup semi?' Well, I'm glad I didn't - what's funny about a cup semi that's a 5-0 drubbing?
"This was for more fun - Arsenal trying to walk it in as usual. OK, there was a serious moment when Jamie Carragher was stretchered off - but he's OK, apparently.
"But they go berserk when they think they've won it at the death then screw it up! What was Eboue thinking? And Wenger refusing to believe what's happened? Oh - sorry, I'm ... sorry, I can't help it... it's just so funny!"
