As Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United launch rival bids to take over the Olympic Stadium in east London, speculation has increased that should Tottenham succeed with their bid, Manchester United will up sticks and move lock, stock, and barrel into White Hart Lane.
There is always uncertainty among football fans over whether or not a football stadium should incorporate an athletics track, but both Spurs and West Ham feel that this would not constitute an insurmountable obstacle, as there are ways around the problem.
Manchester United fans however - 96% of whom actually live in London according to statistics - are reportedly ecstatic about the possibility of the Manchester giants moving into White Hart Lane.
"That'd be brilliant, that," lifelong United fan Dave Trotter of Orpington told us. "Save me a bleedin' fortune on match days. I just hope they don't change the club name though, because I've spent over £200k on junk souvenirs and replica shirts out of the megastore and I'd have to replace it all if that wuz to happen. But United moving to London? Strike a bleedin' light mate, strewth and cushty innit - football's comin' 'ome at larst!"
More as we get it.
