Manchester United lost to Bayern Munich last night, and in the fallout from this, Wayne Rooney has criticised his colleagues. The 2-1 defeat, could see the English side dumped out of Europe, barring a win in next week's second leg.
Having limped off of the field, the English forward, lashed out, though, branding his teammates "flops" and slamming them as "reliant on whatever I (Rooney) can achieve."
This harsh appraisal of his side's fortunes will infuriate boss, Ferguson, and the outburst is sure to rock the domestic champions, who are chasing European glory.
Rooney had, indeed, scored his side's solitary goal last night, and his rampant form has seen him rise to "imperious", according to Sky's Andy Gray.
Wayne's fitness will be of great conern to Fabio Capello, too, as this summer's World Cup looms large. Rooney has been touted as the 3 Lions' main threat, and will certainly be important to his nation.
Closer to home, Sir Alex Ferguson's team, top of the English Premier League, have at times come under attack from pundits, for its reliance on Rooney. Yet, SAF said of the issue "Wayne is obviously disappointed with the injury, but the lad is out of order."
Rooney will have preliminary scans on his ankle tonight.
