Sir Gary Lineker has launched a campaign to find athletes with big ears to compete in the 2012 London Olympic Games, to be held only in London. Lineker, Minister for Sport Richard Caborn, and The Spoof began the "Sporting Dumbos" search in Trafalgar Square, London.
Lineker told The Spoof: "Within the new Olympic sport of ear-ball, we need people from all over London with enormous ears. If you pass the series of tests you will get drawn into the young start programme and will be brought through with the national ear-ball team."
The Spoof is aiming to encourage individuals from all over London between the ages of 16 and 25 with huge ears to apply for the ear-ball programme.
Caborn said: "Sporting Dumbos will give London athletes the chance to reach the peak of their potential by trying sports both new and old, introducing them to the high-performance environment. Not many people know that there are new sports being introduced all the time, and ear-ball is one that favours people with big ears particularly. The London crowd will want to see the best of London's big ears when London hosts the London Olympics in 2012. This campaign will help us to meet those high expectations."
