Once again the industrial safety commission OSHA has brought the world's Winter Olympic Games to a grinding halt.
As with the 2010 games in British Columbia, the commission has found numerous faults in the various Olympic venues in Sochi, Russia.
Among the many violations recorded during last week's inspection are :
Downhill and Cross-Country skiers walking in an unsafe manner with their sharp ski poles.
Many unmarked areas containing very slippery and dangerous ice. One particular bad one was in a huge oval shape.
Extremely steep, snowy slopes also unmarked and accessible to children.
One of these was lined with crowds of people on each side as if just waiting for someone to chance onto it and maybe break their neck!
One of the snow slopes had a large hill built into it making it even more dangerous if someone were to become airborne on the way down.
OSHA says they have never seen such a densely unsafe area where the potential for high speed falls was worse. It has no choice but to shut down the gathering until the violations are corrected or Spring comes.
