Literally the " Last Person to Leave Detroit", Gerald Pembroke figures that he has nothing to lose by starting off for the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia with his own personalized downhill "tube-sled" equipment.
Pembroke states that, "I was getting a little ancy with the city bankruptcy and all the empty houses around me on the block and decided 'What the heck?', I might as well give it a try with the Russkies."
Pembroke has been practicing up on that little hill over by Middleton Ave. and is pretty sure he has a chance against the one man bobsled teams.
He said he got inspired to go after reading about the Malawi Hockey team's plans on TheSpoof.com and intends to travel by way of the Arctic Circle so he can slide most of the way down to Russia.
