In the weekly EPL press conference, United boss Sir Fergus was asked whether he thought Spurs were a genuine title contender this season and he replied:
"Aye, yes, ohhh definitly laddy, since they started refusing to sell us their best players last summer (aka Bale and Modric) they've started to put together an impressive run.
"It's not like the old days when we could click our fingers, pull our chequebook out and Daniel Levy would wet his pants while agreeing to sell us Sheringham, Carrick and Berbatov. We've tried hypnotizing them to have Berbatov back for Bale, but they're not buckling. I think Levy won the EuroMillions lottery and hasn't told anyone or maybe even got a large payout from News International for hacking his phone."
Harry Redknapp was not available for comment when told Fergies comments, but he will probably reply to them in his regular column in the 'stun' newspaper who grease his palm with snake oil from their Wapping headquarters.
