Picks up right where original movie left off:
Andy and Red waste no time making up for the lost years on the beach in this tropical paradise. They laugh and remember those good old times they spent together in prison, and actually making a true friendship out of the situation. The two men are working on getting a sailboat rigged up so they can travel around the ocean.
As the two are working and remeniscing, a police officer from Zihuatanejo walks out from the village. He asks them if they have a permit to work on such a boat, but unfortunately they don’t. And Red just showed up, so he does not have the proper legal documents. The police officer is suspicious, and takes both of the men into the Mexican police station.
Both of the men start to worry. Andy consols Red, telling him it will be okay because he has the legal documents to live and work there, so he will not let anything happen to Red. After hours of sitting in a tiny, dank cell, the sergeant of the station enters: Sergeant Miguel Hadley (Captain Byron Hadley’s cousin who lives south of the border). He yells, “You! I know both of you! You got my cousin killed! Put both of them in jail and throw away the key! After only one day of finally finding Andy, both of them are locked away for life in Mexico. Andy says to Red, “Maybe we shouldn’t be friends.”
