Extract: A new food bank aimed at helping families during the school summer holidays has opened in Nottingham.
The NG7 food bank was set up by volunteers following reports people were walking from the city centre to another food bank in Beeston.
The new service gives families with limited incomes access to food and groceries after they have been referred there by other organisations.
Organisers said it would remain open until the end of the school holidays.
Comments: Any banks to help the pensioners who have to put up with the marauding gangs of school yobs intimidating and threatening them I wonder?

Extract: John Landa shared a joke with his eldest daughter outside the family home on the evening of August 13, 1982, and drove away for another night shift.
The father of eight never returned.
In the early hours of the following morning the 33-year-old from Forest Fields would be stabbed 87 times in Mapperley Park after picking up one last fare before he planned to head home.
His killer has not been caught, despite the efforts of more than 100 officers who worked on the case 30 years ago and others who have reviewed the mystery since.

Mr Landa's family and Notts Police have today relaunched an appeal on the anniversary of his death.
Detectives hope more information or new technology may help finally solve the horrific crime which still haunts the memories of Mr Landa's family.
Officers hope to jog the memories of potential witnesses and will see whether new techniques could be used to try to crack what they say remains one of the biggest unsolved "cold case" crimes in Notts.
Satnam Kaur, 42, John's eldest daughter, told the Post the family remained desperate for justice.
Comments: It must hell for the relatives, I hope this new attempt at solving the murder is successful.

Extract: Neil Entwistle, 33, was jailed in June, 2008, for shooting Rachel, 27, and nine-month-old Lillian at their Massachusetts home on January 20, 2006.
The Nott's man convicted of murdering his wife and baby at their US home has failed in a formal appeal against his conviction.
Entwistle, a former IT consultant from Kilton, Worksop, formally filed an appeal in April after arguing he should receive a fresh trial because police searched his home without a warrant when they arrived to check on his family.

Extract: Two masked men pulled up outside the post office in Trent Boulevard in a blacked-out silver Volvo 970 at around 11.05am before going inside and threatening the postmaster with what police believe to be a hand gun.
The five-door car, registration number S69 RWE, was then driven down Holme Road and on to Adbolton Grove before being dumped in front of garages in Moore Close, also in Lady Bay.
Notts Police recovered the car within an hour of receiving the initial call, but no arrests were made yesterday.
The force helicopter was used to search the area.
The postmaster was being interviewed by the police yesterday and the force said he was unavailable for comment.
Anyone who believes they have information which can help the police with their enquiries should call 101 or call into West Bridgford police station and quote incident numbers 275 or 276 of August 15.

Comments: Armed robberies have been with us for donkey's years, and still the experts cannot prevent them. Hang um.. that'll stop um doing it again!

Extract: Updated on 17th August 2012: Police are appealing for help to trace an offender who fired an air pistol at a pensioner.
It happened around 8.30am on Tuesday 14 August, after the victim, who is in his late 60s, heard someone shout abuse at him, near to Hexgreave Park in Farnsfield.
The man then felt a pain in his forehead and realised he had been struck by a pellet.
It is believed that the weapon was fired from fields nearby.
The victim required medical treatment but has not sustained serious injuries.

Extract: Traffic Wardens were caught on camera breaking the rules to hand out parking fines to motorists.
Anthony Wilkinson, 70, of Ruddington, has fought an 18-month battle to get the fines overturned, despite the fact he had not been given a ticket himself.
Mr Wilkinson saw the wardens kick snow off double yellow lines in Boston Street, Nottingham, before they put tickets on two cars and said he "couldn't believe" what happened.
CCTV at his workplace captured the incident on the evening of November 30, 2010, but Nottingham City Council, which employed private firm NSL to enforce parking, continually denied the wardens had done anything wrong.
Council letter added: "It is clear the penalty charge notices should not have been issued. The conduct of the NSL civil enforcement officers was not and would never be condoned by Nottingham City Council. In this instance the enforcement was certainly not fair or accurate and was not consistent with the high standards of enforcement expected."
The council no longer uses NSL and its own staff now enforce parking regulations.

Extract: A woman is recovering in hospital after she was shot outside a Nottingham pub.
Officers were called to the Vernon pub in Old Basford at about 21:30 BST on Friday.
The 23-year-old woman suffered a single gunshot wound but the injury is not thought to be life threatening, Nottinghamshire Police said.
The woman remains at the Queen's Medical Centre in a stable condition. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
A cordon was put in place around the pub on Friday night. Most of this has since been lifted but an area near the pub's garden remains cordoned off.
Police have not yet recovered a weapon but officers are checking CCTV footage and carrying our house to house inquiries
Comments: Another shooting took place on me walk to Bulwell route! I'm getting a little concerned now, that's eight shootings (4 murders) in the last year on this walking route... oh dear!
