I've been hearing about this film. I thought the first and second films, Battle for Tunisia and Egypt Breakdown were a bit weak for war films, with not much bloodshed or battles.
It appears that the creators have listened. Already news crews at the set of the film have said there is more blood than ever, with more tanks patrolling the streets.
Get this. The set stretches across the entire country. I swear the leader must be raking it in.
I went to the filming. They've even got David Cameron and Obama in to make a cameo, which I think is a good sign.
Anyway, at the filming, there was blood everywhere. I give this a ten for authenticity, because the buildings look like they're bashed up, the ground as red your mother's.
The Special FX and Sound FX are brilliant. The pyrotechnics are amazing. Hell, I think they're not using any CGI in this film, because they've really gone to extreme lengths. I can't wait for the finished film.
They're really bad at keeping this a secret, because I've seen hundreds of news vans, CNN, BBC, FOX. Why spoil the film for the people who've yet to see it?
I have to say, the acting is pretty decent. For a bunch of no-names, you can really see the spirit of hope and freedom in the rebels' eyes, and the evil laughter in the eyes of the loyalists and mercenaries.
I think I've somehow been thrust into the role of 'confused news writer' because I've just been given a 90s gun. They're not using blanks. See, this is the level of realism I want from Hollywood. These indie filmmakers here in Libya are rivals to Los Angeles. It was really fun gunning down those mercenary actors. They're pretty good at being dead, which I admire from actors.
I wanted to see more of it, but I was whisked away on a chartered plane from my government. Wow. They must like me that much.
