Pop superstar-turned authoress, actress and film director, Madonna, whose new film about King Edward VIII's romance with American divorcee Wallis Simpson has its world premiere at this year's Venice Film Festival, is looking 'a bit ragged at the edges' according to me.
The singer, affectionately known by fans as 'Madge' because it rhymes with 'fadge', is 53 next month, and looks it. Her film, W.E, will be screened out of competition at the event, and contains no toe-sucking or other grossness.
Madonna burst onto the music scene in 1977, and since then has regularly flashed bits of her anatomy for the media spotlight, but is finding that nobody particularly wants to see them anymore, being as haggard and wrinkled as she is.
Interviewed by myself, just now, I said:
"She's very much past her best. Mind you..."
