Grief-stricken fans of former R'n'B, soul and jazz singer Amy Winehouse have had their spirits lifted this morning after truly amazing reports that she may not, in fact, be dead.
Miss Winehouse, 27, 'died' on Saturday in mysterious circumstances, and a post-mortem on her body has proved 'thus far inconclusive' in its findings.
This may be because she is not dead.
This amazing claim has been made since the emergence from South Africa of a
story of a 50-year-old man whose family had taken him to the morgue after they were unable to awaken him. He later woke up from 'a deep sleep', perfectly fine, and demanded to be taken home.
If this latest speculative speculation proves correct, and Miss Winehouse is, in fact, still alive, it would be the most perfect piece of publicity imaginable for the singer, who could then release her new CD and watch it go straight to number one in the album charts.
If she is dead, I apologise unreservedly for giving everyone false hopes.
