When a stunt malfunction led to Angelina Jolie being rushed to the hospital Friday, there was much concern as the head injury only appeared to be slight but on everyone's mind was the tragic death of Natasha Richardson earlier this year from what appeared to be a minor injury.
Richardson was learning to ski when she had a head injury that did not appear serious, when she fell while taking the skiing lesson at the Mont Tremblant Resort in Quebec, Canada about an hour and a half from Montreal. The injury was followed by a period when she seemed completely herself and seemed to be fine and was able to talk and act appropriately. Paramedics and an ambulance which initially responded to the accident were told they were not needed and left. So, refusing medical attention, she returned to her hotel room and about three hours later was taken to a local hospital after complaining of a headache.
By the next day, she was dead from a brain aneurysm!
So when Jolie took a pretty nasty hit to the head while on the set of her new thriller, "Salt", it was demanded that she be rushed to the hospital, even though she said she only had a minor headache.
The production company attempted to minimize fears for the billion dollar star by issuing a statement: "This morning while filming an action sequence there was a mishap and Angelina Jolie sustained a minor head injury. As a precautionary measure, Ms. Jolie will be taken to the hospital and examined. Production on the film has resumed."
Still fans are holding their breath until the filming over when she's promised to have a complete check-up with be sure there are no blood clods.
"I'll be fine", Jolie told people on the set. But Richardson said practically the same thing.
