Some movies which are panned by critics nevertheless are highly successful due to word of mouth praises by people who've seen the movie. They tell their friends and family, who tell their friends, and so on, until the movie is a hit, despite those 'official' movie reviews.
So it has gone with that one movie currently in theaters. It's the one with that guy, the actor who played the cop last year. Oh, you know. Maybe he didn't play a cop.. was he a single father? It was the movie where he fell in love with the woman lawyer. She played the mom on that sitcom that was canceled. I don't know if you ever saw it, but I thought it was funny. Anyway, she is the lead actress. Not in THIS movie, but the one last year that had the same guy in it.
I'd heard it was really good from a friend of mine at work. And my neighbor's daughter saw it and just LOVED it. I thought it sounded good so I went over the weekend.
I was not disappointed - I really liked it. I've noticed that my neighbor's daughter and I seem to like a lot of the same movies so I may start asking what she's seen lately and whether she liked it.
So, this movie starts out in this little town in North Carolina... or Connecticut. The main guy, the one who was in the movie we liked so much last summer, is having a great year until... What WAS that movie last year called? This is going to drive me crazy I *know* you know the one I'm talking about. It has this guy and that actress, the one from the sitcom. I know you'd recognize her if you saw her.
I didn't realize is was almost two and a half hours long, but it was really good so I didn't even notice the time. Sometimes it was hysterical but then just that quick there is some dramatic moment and everyone gets more serious. But I think that is one of the reasons I liked it so much. Real life can be like that.
So - it was very good. You should see it.
