The BBC have dropped plans Newsnight to investigate the private life of Jimmy Savile, just weeks after he died in October.

The Daily Fail newspaper reports that the Beeb had planned to examine the claims that Saville regularly stole cheese from his local supermarket, but dropped the show after failing to find evidence.

A source at the corporation told the rag "It was all set to go - the rumours were there, but we needed proof - someone to come forward and back them up - or cctv - but we had none. So it was dropped"

A spokesman for Tesburys said "I'm sorry - we cannot comment on this"

The BBC are now believed to be considering a show about a different unnamed tv personality who is still alive who allegedly steals cheese. A decision will be made shortly.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
