Santa Claus - My Fake Diary
Sunday, 9 September 2012
American Barb Hamilton made my day when I read this piece she had written:
Mary had a little lamb, with fleece as white as snow, and everywhere that Mary went the lamb was sure to go.
Candles on a birthday cake, blow them out, and your wish comes true! I believed it all, didn't you?
I believed in the tooth fairy. Whenever I lost a tooth, I placed it under my pillow, and magically the next morning I would find a shiny quarter waiting for me. I say shiny because quarters were made with silver back then.
I believed in Santa Claus and the smell of the real Christmas trees - Oh how exciting it was to lay down on the floor next to the tree, looking at the beautiful lights and knowing that Santa was on his way. Going to bed on Christmas Eve was an exciting time, knowing that the next day I would find lots of presents under the tree. I could not figure out how Santa Claus could be in so many different places at the same time.
