Redlands Daily Facts brought to my attention 'Santa Claus Inv':

Calling all elves; calling all elves.
The North Pole is in urgent need of some willing elves to help distribute Christmas gifts to families during the week of Dec. 4-11.

Pointy ears are not required.

Santa Claus Inc., the nonprofit organization that works miracles for needy families, is being overrun with applicants who are hurting this year.

There will be thousands more families to serve.

Traditionally, Santa Claus Inc. serves 14,000 families. Last year, that number rose to 17,000.

Karen DiCarlo, executive director, put out this plea for help because of the numbers of applications coming in.

"I think volunteering for Santa Claus Inc., especially during distribution to help parents shop for kids, puts Christmas in the right perspective," she said.

"There is so much satisfaction from knowing you helped families during Christmas."
