The five mile long Sirius Star

Somali Pirates dressed as characters from Pirates of the Caribbean took control of the Sirius Star in the Gulf of Aden.

The super tanker visible on Google Earth it is that large had a crew of four who were taken by surprise by the Captain Jack Sparrow character whilst they were playing Yahtzee. The fifteen pirates had boarded the crude carrier not long after it left the port of Aden in Yemen but did not seize control of the vessel until eight days later as they had been forced to walk from their boarding point to the command deck some five miles away. Two of the pirates didn't make it.

The pirates are now in control of a fifth of the world's oil supply and are threatening to sink the vessel unless they are given $20million. Lieutenant Leftfoot-Missing of the American Aircraft Carrier Cherokee has said that this is a bargain for two hundred million barrels of crude oil. "I've suggested that we offer them nineteen million [dollars]," he said via satellite videophone. "These oil sheiks love a good barter."

Admiral Insurance, currently aboard the British Chinese built Frigate, Inscrutable, is also in the area. "We're going to offer twenty-one million dollars," he told the world's press. "And a safe passage to Southampton. We can probably get double that on British forecourts."

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
