St Helier, Jersey - (Abominable Mess): Sgt Jim Bergerac of the Jersey Police Service has invited Portuguese police to help stretch out the grisly excavations until the holiday season arrives in the Channel Islands.

"My Algarve colleagues are very experienced in such matters," Bergerac told reporters today.

Mechanical diggers have begun opening up a labyrinthine complex at the site, similar to that last seen on the Discovery Channel's borings into the Great Pyramid at Giza.

Forensic archaeologist say they have found plenty of evidence but the excavation lacks that certain je ne sais quoi that could be part of the Praia Da Iluzion cops' expertise package.

Meanwhile in the United Kingdom a number of senior police officers have begun topping themselves starting with Camilla's head of security and followed by Greater Manchester's commander.

It is thought the deaths are entirely unrelated.
