Extremist fisherman are today reported to have horrifically mutilated a rare Mako shark today by slicing off its head mid-ocean. Australian Gold Coast activists were today said to be appalled at the act of violence carried out on the most peaceful species of the toothy ocean predators.
Witnesses state that the group of fisherman reeled in the shark, provoking it into a frenzy of fearful thrashing as it fought to stay alive. One of the group then seemed to stamp clumsily on the sharks tail, causing the fish to twist and instinctively snap closed its jaws on the man's leg.
Shocked holidaymakers then witnessed the group trying to extract their stricken friend from the closed jaws of the relatively harmless fish, eventually resorting to brutally sawing off its head.
It later emerged that the shark had deliberately missed biting through every one of the man's major arteries, causing nothing more than flesh wounds.
A GreenPeace activist stated,"Clearly, the shark had the capacity to kill the man, but chose just to nip him as a friendly warning following his tail being stamped on. He really didn't deserve to be decapitated, he should have got a medal."
The 20 year old Australian victim, speaking from his hospital bed said,"I guess sharks have had a bad press over the years and I over-reacted when he went for me. I'm just lucky it wasn't a stingray, they don't hold back."
