Astronomers have spotted a rather curious space oddity in the Earth's so-called 'space neighbourhood' - a dead star with unusual characteristics.
The star, known as a neutron star, was sighted using space telescopes and ground-based obsevatories in the US. It is different because it does not travel on a fixed path or orbit, but appears to move independently without any gravitational pull.
The star also seems to possess other characteristics not normally found in neutron stars, one of which is that it can annihilate other planets with a powerful laser beam.
Some astronomers, often confused with astrologers, who are also sad, believe the object may, in fact, be the Death Star, the battle station devised by George Lucas for the film The Empire Strikes Back.
The 'star' is currently 4,000,000 miles away from the Earth, and, although it is not thought to be approaching with any great speed, NASA has said that it would like to send an exploratory expedition party to intercept it.
Benny Kenobi, a member of staff at the Vader Observatory in Wisconsin, said:
"Duck!"
