Western Pacific Ocean - Earth's tallest known mountain has been discovered in the southern end of the Mariana Trench, the deepest known underwater canyon in the world. Scientists believe that the mountain, known as Challenger Deep Shallows, went previously undetected due to the sulfur odor that it emits.
"Previous missions to study the area understandably avoided the Shallows because of the foul stench - we know that much," said Jango Rasmussen of Team Zissou. "I mean it stinks to high hell!"
In the meantime, China, Japan, Russia, the United States and Disney are all looking at different ways to exploit the exciting find.
