Jim Plank, from Grimsby, got more than he bargained for when he used his new sat-nav system for the first time. For instead of going down The Golden Cod in the high street to get tea for him and his wife, Doris, he ended up in Quebec Canada. He told us:
"Doris bought the unit for me for Christmas so I thought I'd give it a go and see if it got me to the chippy round the corner. It's only about half a mile from our house but I realised that something was amiss when the road signs said welcome to Manchester.
It had seemed to me that 5 hours on the road was rather excessive to go round the corner but that wasn't the half of it! Next thing it insisted that I bought an airplane ticket for Canada so I did and in the end I ended up in Quebec. What a palaver!"
We asked Jim if he didn't think that maybe something was wrong with the sat-nav and he commented:
"Not really, as it was a brand new unit and I knew that as it was a computer too, then it couldn't possibly go wrong, could it?"
Has your sat-nav led you up the garden path? If so we want to know. Can you beat Jim's story? There's a free sat-nav unit on offer to the best story.
