The White House, Washington D. C. Exclusive to The Spoof. In an interview with The Spoof at the White House today, presidential foreign policy adviser John Bolton clarified his long-held insistence upon "regime change" in Iran.
"What Iran needs, and what we need in Iran, is the stability that formerly existed while the Shah ruled that country. His overthrow during the Carter regime brought chaos to the Iranians, put their oil supply in unfriendly hands, and created instability throughout the Middle East.
"The U. S. must support the royalist forces in Iran who would overthrow the existing Islamic power structure, and which would then invite Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi, now in exile in Maryland, to return as an autocratic Shah, a virtual czar, friendly to us and allowing our oil companies to exploit that country's oil.
"What we need in the Middle East is a string of friendly autocrats from Iran to Israel." Bolton did not clarify if he meant Israel needed an autocratic government, too.
