A woman from Nottingham who was going on holiday to the Caribbean, turned up at Manchester Airport for check-in, but didn't announce this on Facebook, leaving her 'friends' in a state of confusion, and concerned for her health.
Sally Bubblegum, 26, was traveling to the Dominican Republic with her boyfriend, Troy, for a fortnight, but broke with tradition, and did not tell the world, choosing, instead, to 'get on with her life'.
But her friends were furious.
One of them, Trixie Curmudgeon, tweeted:
"I was really worried. I knew she was going, but with her not telling us on Facebook that she had arrived at the airport, made me think that she might have perished in a fatal crash on the way."
Another friend, Belinda Facebook - who loves Facebook so much, she changed her name by deed poll - posted:
"It's most unusual for someone to omit to tell her friends what she's up to at any time of day or night. I still can't quite believe it. To find out that she's gone to the Caribbean without actually notifying people of this, is, frankly, weird."
The news finally got out when Pedro Suarez, an immigration officer at the airport in the Dominican Republic, posted a status of himself on Facebook, in which Sally and Troy could be seen in the background, handing their passports to another officer. News quickly got around the mysterious social media network about Sally's whereabouts, and then the trouble flared.
Police at the airport cautioned Bubblegum for her absent-mindedness, but allowed her to start her holiday once she had rectified her Facebook mistake.
Belinda said later:
"I've never actually met Sally, but I've 'liked' 87.9% of her posts."
