Authorities in Riyadh say there has been another possible breakthrough in the Jamal Khashoggi disappearance case, after the murdered dissident journalist's keffiyeh - the red-and-white-checked headscarf favored by almost all Arab men - was spotted in downtown Riyadh yesterday evening.
Mr Khashoggi's keffiyeh was on the head of another man, who security officers followed, but were unable to apprehend, as the suspect disappeared into a sea of other men wearing exactly the same headgear.
The Saudi police have said they are "determined to get to the bottom" of Khashoggi's disappearance, and bring the culprits to book, and have promised that they "will leave no stone unturned" in their quest to do so.
They will resume their search in the morning, for the man wearing the keffiyeh that looks like every other keffiyeh in history.
