Nantes, France. Former French President, Nicholas Sarkozy, has suffered some setbacks since he lost the Presidential election two years ago. Friends of the ex leader say that he has been forced to sell his chateau in the south of France and also relinquish use of the limousine usually allocated for former Presidents.
To make matters worse, his wife has left him and he has had to sell personal items to cover the gambling debts that he accumulated over the years. One of those items was a rare blue diamond ring that he was given by Colonel Gaddafi when the deceased Libyan leader visited Paris six years ago.
In the last few days, Mr Sarkozy was spotted walking on a French highway begging for money from drivers. His appearance was said to be shabby and non descript. Gendarmes have advised the public to ignore him, or any beggars for that matter, lest they profit from naive sympathies of French citizens.
We'll keep you posted if the former President is sighted once again.
