US President Barack Obama has been rushed to hospital only minutes after making a major speech on the Arab Spring.
Obama spoke at the State Department this morning on the democratic movements in North Africa and the Middle East and laid out his vision of US policy in the region.
But, as soon as the speech was finished, the President was bundled into a waiting ambulance and taken to Washington Hospital Center on the instructions of his Chief of Staff, William Daley.
Daley watched the President's speech and had become increasingly concerned at Obama's inability to pronounce "Tunisia" properly :
"The President is a marvellous speaker but his pronounciation of the North African country as 'Tuneeesya' was quite concerning and didn't make the best impression.
As a result, I've arranged for Obama to undergo an emergency operation to realign his tongue to enable him to make the correct pronounciation".
The President is expected to be back at his desk on Saturday morning.
