Following her attack on Michelle Obama's anti-obesity campaign, saying that it took away people's right to choose their desserts, Sarah Palin has issued a statement to the nation, and to God, calling on people to stand up against socialist inspired healthier living campaigns. The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, she said was a law that seeks to take away "God-given rights to make our own decisions."
At a press conference later in the day she clarified her position on this and a number of other similar issues. "I don't care if 300,000 people die prematurely each year because of obesity" she said "We have the God-given right to decide if we want to eat pancakes, pizzas and ice-cream in industrial quantities. You have the right to stand up and say.. that is if you can stand up, "Yes! I choose to die of diabetes, heart attack, stroke, colon or bladder cancer and, if I can lift a gun, I will defend my right to die with my life!" She went on to say it was time to start a slow movement of the people against healthier eating and discrimination against fatties.
Unfazed by a barrage of criticisms, she chose the moment to up the ante by also claiming that the campaign for safe sex was undermining people's right to die of AIDS. "We have the right to choose to die of AIDS, we have the right to want to die in excruciating pain" she said.
Later, she also attacked road safety campaigns as another example of bureaucratic state interference in people's lives."We could save a lot of tax payers money and uphold our right to die in a mangled heap, if all road signs and pedestrian crossings were removed." Palin declared. "In particular, the rule which says cars can only drive in one direction along each side of the freeway is an abominable infringement of people's democratic rights." "When I'm President premature death will become the norm we expect in a free life and democratic society."
