Say, would you happen to have that medal in an extra large?

Normally, a crystal vessel such as a lovely fruit bowl or ornate juice decanter would be a perfect gift from the sitting President to his predecessors. However, this year, President Obama is feeling particularly generous and has obviously decided to give much more valuable gifts at least to one previous president.

We are talking about his announcement that he is giving former President George H.W. Bush the Presidential Medal of Freedom. No chintzy vase for Bush, Sr., nosiree. Only the finest gold will do. It is a fitting tribute to a man who fought so hard for the freedom of so many people these past few decades. A man who cherished life so much so that he…oh what the hell am I talking about?

The man doesn't deserve Dollar Store tea towels let alone the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Yet no one with any sort of clout is coming forward and telling Obama exactly what he should hear…that he's been hornswaggled by the Bush family into thinking they are decent human beings worthy of such honors.

Some say the gesture is in response to George W. taking the high road and speaking well of Obama during the groundbreaking of his (W's) Presidential library. So, with that kind of reasoning, Dick Cheney may just swallow his hatred for the sitting President long enough to say something equally nice about Obama so that he may also receive a cool gift for Christmas. Say something in a President's National Medal of Omnipotence.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
