A group of female protesters in Los Angeles from several area Universities picketed local nurseries over their growing and selling of Pussy Willows. The students and faculty members felt that the plants degraded women in general and were inappropriately named.
Catherine Willows (no relation) of U.S.C. said that "I'm also tired of getting that nickname just because of this plant. My vagina looks nothing like a pussy willow, regardless of whether or not I shave it or how I shave it."
"Also, a man would never eat a pussy willow, but I'm a possibility and am open to sharing that experience with him."
The same women also said that they had a problem with chicken breasts (and other named pieces of chicken) and calling the television set "the boob tube."
Barbara Smoot of U.C.L.A. said "Society today just degrades our bodies. They constantly run us down and say that women are just a piece of tail. I'm more than a piece of tail! I'm a great lay!"
