Saddam in happier times at the White House

Houston, Texas. In scenes unprecedented in world history, former President of the United States,George W Bush, has been detained by Houston Police on grounds of creating public mischief after he claimed that his pet dog, Saddam, was trapped in a balloon seen floating over western Texas and trailed by emergency services for some distance.

The balloon was recovered about 4 hours after first launching into the blue skies above Mr Bush's residence. However, when rescue officials looked for signs of Saddam, they were disappointed to find nothing. Following similar circumstances to the balloon incident in nearby Colorado, Police didn't hesitate to get to the heart of the matter.

Searching the Bush compound, they found Saddam huddled up in a narrow burrow in the backyard of the former President's home.

Chief of Police, Maxwell T Smart, announced to the Press "We got him" when Saddam was eventually located. Mr Bush has at this stage denied any attempt to cover up the real reason for the exercise: advance publicity for his Presidential memoirs.

The former President hopes to have legal representation from former White House aide Scooter Libby, who is out of gaol on parole following his own brush with the law. Meanwhile, Saddam is in good health and being fed by his caretaker, Osama Bin Laden.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
