ECHO PARK, CA - The Los Angeles Police Department raided a medical marijuana facility Thursday night at the Royal Temple of Zion in Echo Park.
Authorities said the facility never applied for a permit to dispense medical marijuana, so when officers walked into the facility and found cannabis in mason jars being distributed, they made three arrests.
Rastafarian ministers said they should have the legal right to sell marijuana at the facility, but they forgot to mail in the necessary forms, which are still in an office in the back of the temple.
Police confiscated approximately two pounds of the sticky green herb; there would have been more, but the order forms are in the same back office, right next to the permit applications.
