Washington,D.C.-Israeli leader Binyamin Netanyahu, on his first visit to the United States, gave President Obama an authentic replica of a Dead Sea scroll containing the Biblical Book of Exodus.
In what has become an excruciating exercise for visiting dignitaries, President Obama really out did himself this time. Noting the complete lack of pork in the Israeli diet, he presented his counterpart with a pair of championship hogs from the 2008 Iowa State fair.
"Hopefully these two hogs will represent the beginning of a thriving pork industry in the Jewish state." the President announced, as he presented the prize boar and sow to Mr. Netanyahu, who was visibly shaken by the ritual and tried repeatedly to fade into the back ground.
Later a spokesman for the Prime Minister tried to make the best of a embarrassing situation. "I'm sure they will live a long and happy life in one of our zoos, or maybe we'll just share them with our Muslim friends."
