Presidential plane Air Force One accompanied by a fighter jet yesterday swooped low over Manhattan and New York harbour in search of photo opportunities, sparking panic among office workers who feared another 911 scenario.
"People came flooding outa the buildings and onto the street scared half to death," Officer Paul Burns NYPD told us. "I mean, how the hell do they know those guys are up there taking pictures? They don't. This has opened up a lot of old wounds. Whoever okayed this is some fuckin' asshole."
The President was not on board the plane at the time of the incident.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg slammed the fly around as "hugely irresponsible" as a White House official stated that the relevant authorities in NYC had been notified of the event.
Tourist Michael MacWhack of Liverpool, England, told us in Battery Park:
"It was a bit of a let down really. I was hoping for something spectacular to happen. Least they could have done was ditched in the river so I'd have some footage to sell to Sky News on my return home."
More as we get it.
