Authorities in Atlanta, Georgia reported that a burglary suspect was literally caught with his pants down while trying to run away with his loot.
A deputy responded to an alarm at a convenient store early Thursday morning and reported seeing a 41-year-old man exiting through a smashed-out back door while carrying an armload of packs of cigarettes.
Deputies said the man, later identified as one Lou Costello III, tried to flee but the armful of cigarette packages prevented him from holding up his pants, which fell down and tripped him before he could make it out of the parking lot.
He wasn't wearing any shorts.
He fell over a fireplug.
After being taken to a hospital for very personal injuries, Mr. Costello was charged with criminal mischief, burglary, theft, possession of drug paraphernalia and indecent exposure. He was being held on $15,000 bail.
"That does it. I'm giving up smoking", Costello reportedly told a jailer.
