Hackers in Austin, Texas broke into several electronic road signs yesterday and modified each to display various zombie-related messages, something that Texas Public Works found to be funny, not!
They included:
Caution! Zombies! Ahead!
Nazi Zombies! Run!
Zombies in Area! Run Austin!
Public Works spokeswoman Sara Hartley said the signs are equipped with external locks. "These signs were broken into, it was not just a 'walk up and change the sign' kind of thing. This is a new one for us, we've never had it happen before."
However, i-hacked.web noted that frequently these signs, made by IMAGO, are left unsecured and with the well-known default password in place.
"A few bored kids could change those signs easily", stated Frank Klein, an employee.
Meanwhile, laughing motorists were eventually stopped by zombies and had their brains eaten.
