A surprise visit by US President George Bush to Iraq today, has been overshadowed by an incident in which a pair of soiled underpants were thrown at him during a news conference.
An Iraqi journalist was wrestled to the floor by security guards after he called Bush "a dog" and threw his underwear which landed on Bush's head.
Without flinching, President Bush remained upright, and carried on with his speeech without removing the garment.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said Bush showed professionalism, tact and diplomacy indealing with the incident in such a controlled manner. Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki said:
"He kept on talking with the shreddies on his head!"
