In an intriguing soufflè of Presidential politics, average American intelligence, and late-night humor, Jay Leno's Tonight Show conducted a national viewers' poll concerning Reverend Jesse Jackson's latest verbal misstep about Barack Obama.
NBC interns via telephone interviews asked 20,000 random Americans, "What part of Barack Obama's anatomy did Rev. Jackson want to 'cut off?'"
Here are the results of the poll:
- Toenails: 35%
Fingernails: 27%
Nose hairs: 16%
Undecided: 5%
Didn't know the meaning of "anatomy:" 23%
When asked what he thought of the results, Mr. Leno declared, "I'm really surprised that more than 75% knew what 'anatomy' meant at all."
