At press conference today NASA officials said that an object discovered this morning trailing the shuttle is the toilet from the shuttle.
Chief Astronaut Buzz Chime said that the toilet aboard the craft had become clogged and rather risk reentry with a load of crap the crew decided to release the tank of poo into the vacuum of space.
Crew members will be relying on used bottles for the last leg of the mission, "there is some concern that in the near future the toilet in question might in fact cross paths with the ISS and could hit the fans of the space station" Chime said.
At last report there was one crew member unaccounted for, no word yet on the fate of said astronaut.
