In a shock military move yesterday, Britain's elite special forces, The Special Air Services Forces, annexed the southern state of Florida in the United States.
"There was little resistance" commented General Archibald Chuckerfella of the crack SASS force.
"We landed a powerful force of 34 troops and quickly outflanked the local school under 13 football team who fought bravely before running out of ammunition"
This move has taken US President George W Bush aback. Bush has called a summit meeting of US Defense specialists and it is likely that some form of official protest will be made.
"Aw man I tell ya, we gonna smash those limey bastards" remarked George W before heading off for a game of tennis.
Meanwhile, in London, plans are being made for Floridashire, as it is now known, to nominate candidates for local elections.
"This just the start" said Prime Minister Gordon Braun.
"For far too long Britain has been pushed around by the yanks. We will be sending another 16 troops and a small paddle steamer within a week or two"
