Washington DC - (Ass Mess): A major GOP shot in the arm or a shot in the foot? That is the dilemma facing Republican supporters after the news that former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson has declared himself a presidential runner for the White House in 2008.
Announcing the decision on the "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" show Thompson said:
"Sure I could win. Whyever not?
"People loved me in the movies. People love me on TV.
"And I ain't just some GOP bald guy with a dodgy comb-over either.
"What's more I ain't ever been busted in some airport john for quasi-oral resuscitation techniques.
"Loadsa people seenme as Rear Admiral Joshua Painter of the USS Enterprise in Hunt for Red October.
"And I been on Sex and the City.
"So what more could anybody want?"
