Former NY mayor Rudy Giuliani today announced that in order to reduce the size of the federal government, he would immediately abolish the Congress, along with every government agency outside the Executive branch, including the Office of Vice President.
Sources close to the campaign say this was in response to Texas Congressman Ron Paul's appearance on The Colbert Report, in which he expressed support for getting rid of many unnecessary federal agencies.
In response to critics claiming he would create a dictatorship, Mayor Giuliani said, "I lived through 9/11, and conservatives want less government and lower spending. What better way to accomplish this than to leave it all to one man who lived through 9/11? This idea that rule by one man means dictatorship is extraordinary and absurd. I've never heard this before, and I did live through 9/11."
