Central Islip, NY - (Ass Press): The defence attorney for a Hamptons Bay school which sacked specialist teacher Lauren Berrios has defended his client's complaint that her post was terminated because of witchcraft concerns.

Steven Stern told a court hearing that "Ms Burritos has admitted once visiting a local coven out of curiosity. No big deal! Who in the world hasn't?

"The Principal certainly has, the school's Divinity professor too, and most of the School Board as well.

"But she's a malign influence on her young students and espouses ideas contrary to the wholesome agenda set by School Principal, Andrew Albano, a born-again fundamentalist Christian."

Berrios' defence attorney retorted that his client had been given the option of a fully-fledged Biblical exorcism instead of summonary dismissal, and had refused on Inhuman Rights Act advice.

The $2 million damages lawsuit has brought complex arguments to light after both sides scored high points in mud slinging and character assassination stages of the hearing.

A result is expected today.
