Flouting the common wisdom that if you snooze, you lose, Carl Jansen of Nashville, Tennessee, won a pair of prime concert tickets as the direct result of his hitting the snooze button, which delayed his departure for work and set him up perfectly to be the first caller in to a local radio station offering a pair of front-row seats at an upcoming Kenny Chesney show.
"Score!" said Jansen "Ordinarily I'd have been in the car by then and wouldn't have been able to make a phone call, unless I was stuck in traffic. So this worked out fantastic."
Jansen noted that he's missed out on more extremely appealing radio station giveaways than he can count due to the fact that he typically hears of them during his commute to work.
A long-time Kenny Chesney fan, Jansen is very much looking forward to the show at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. "I'm pumped beyond belief. Mainstream country music is loaded with so much flash and nonsense, but Chesney's the real deal. His songs are classic."
In the bigger picture, the fact that he snoozed and won has caused Jansen to question the wisdom of many other proverbs he'd previously accepted without internal debate.
"I'm thinking late to bed, early to rise, might be cool to try," he said. "And there may be some benefit to leaping without looking. I might give it a shot."
