Covington, Kentucky - It's a common complaint among today's teens. In high school they are sometimes loaded onto buses to spend a day or two on tedious tours of our nation’s Capitol, to visit sites of historical interest such as the Washington Monument, National Archives and Smithsonian Museums, or important seats of power like the U.S. Capitol Building. Many of these disinterested kids can be seen playing games or texting on their smartphones during the visits, paying little attention to the guides and their presentations.
Covington Catholic School seems to have found the solution to getting their students more involved and interested in visits to D.C., and best of all, participate directly in today’s highly-charged political climate.
The program “cuts to the chase” by sending the youths straight to a protest march, then letting them don controversial MAGA hats where they can face off with, and laugh at, any variety of leftist demonstrators that might be around the Capitol Mall area, without interference from overly-restrictive chaperones who might spoil the fun by herding them away from confrontations.
Prep school field trips are now events that today’s inattentive youth can look forward to rather than dread.
