image for Creationist Museum in Ky WIll Show Earth Is Flat

The Creation Museum, located in Petersburg, Kentucky, is operated by the Christian apologetics ministry, to promote a Young Earth creationist explanation of the origins of the universe based on a literal interpretation of the Genesis creation narrative. The 60,000-square-foot museum costs $27 million dollars.

Consistent with its Young Earth creationist ideology, the museum's exhibits depict the coexistence of humans and dinosaurs and maintains that the Earth is approximately 6,000 years old,

Construction will begin soon on a Creation Museum "s biblical theme park built around a 510-foot replica of Noah's Ark. There will also be an attempt to build a structure replicating the Tower of Babel. The park is being subsidized by tax breaks from the State of Kentucky.

Now, the Christian apologetics ministry is asking the state to subsidize a new museum. Consistent with it's literal word-by-word interpretation of the Bible there will be displays built around such Biblical ideas as:

The earth is fixed and immovable and lies at the center of all things. The sun moves about the earth, not the other way around.

The earth is flat and finite. Its boundary may be circular, but the earth is most certainly not a sphere as was hypothesized by Eratosthenes (a pagan scientist who lived two centuries before the birth of Christ).

The sky is the roof over the earth -- a solid impervious barrier that protects both believers and non-believers from the waters beyond.

The stars on the sky, not in it, are much smaller than the earth.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
